Sudan Demonstration/Sit-in in front of the Federal Foreign Office of the Republic of Germany
People Power vs. The World Order
When/Where? Berlin, 4pm 20/06/2019- 5pm 21/06/2019infront of Auswärtiges Amt der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, Werderscher Markt 1, 10117 Berlin
At the above date and time, Sudanese activists will hold a 24 hour protest in Berlin in front of the German Federal Foreign Office. We expect large numbers of Sudanese and non-Sudanese protestors to join us. Some will travel from other European cities to take part.
Why are we protesting? We are protesting the violence perpetrated by Sudan’s illegitimate Transitional Military Council (TMC), which committed a massacre on June 3, 2019 to disperse peaceful sit-ins in Khartoum and in other cities. The military and its affiliated militias are still committing massacres and internet connection has been deliberately severed by the regime to prevent communication by the Sudanese with each other and the outside world. Specifically, (i) We protest the meeting hosted by the German government on Friday 21 June, 2019, in Berlin, which will bring together the Sudan envoys of some of the biggest powers in the world (the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany) with Norway and the envoys of the African Union and the United Nations, amongst others. Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, which are the funders and backers of the murderous TMC, have been invited to take part in the meeting yet no Sudanese have been given the chance to have their say. We assert the right of the Sudanese to self-determination and to decide on their own future. (ii)We protest the dishonest “mediation” being carried out by western powers. On the one hand they issue warnings to Sudan’s TMC to hand over power to civilians. On the other, they continue to collaborate with the military and with its backers. The EU and Germany for example have privileged their migration/externalized borders agenda over the human rights of the Sudanese people, who are calling for peace, freedom and justice. The United States for its part makes weapons-deals with Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the U.A.E, instead of sanctioning them (iii)Finally, we protest the lack of sanctions on the TMC, its affiliated militias and the countries backing.
We call on the international community to stop its tacit support for the violence in Sudan!
WE CALL ON ALL GERMAN, EUROPEAN, ARABIC LANGUAGE AND GLOBAL MEDIA TO COVER THIS PROTEST AND TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR VOICES REACH THOSE IN POWER!
